Cooler Master approached Mnpctech in September about building a PC to launch their new V8 cpu cooler at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas (Jan 7th -- 10th). The basis would be their 840 ATCS case. The theme was left entirely to me. Having just seen District-9 for the first time, the imagery was fresh in my mind. The Prawn (aliens) ship and weapons were visually exciting with the backdrop of District-9′s dilapidated environment. We created a theme with memorable visuals from the movie like the “Humans Only” signs and Prawn canister that lead to Wikus Van De Merwe’s transformation. Mitron Interlink Fan Controller was cannibalized and mounted in the rear of the chassis.

The prawn canister resides in the front 5.25 bays, under a single DVD drive.

We cnc milled a Prawn canister replica from 2″ diameter solid aluminum rod. It will be illuminated with 4″ UV cold cathode light.

Brad Galvin recreates the canister graphics with enamel “1 shot” brand paint.
