I was flattered Lian-Li sent me the very first sample of this case…
The PC-K60 is a mid-tower case I’m convinced will set new market standards. I’ve seen many manufacturers attempt to offer a truly “tool less” case. Most examples I’ve seen have failed because of poor design or materials. I recall my first tool-less PCI clips made from plastic in 2003 on a Chenbro 610. A month later I witnessed the surge of copycats. Some worked OK while others snapped off. There must be thousands of patents for tool less PCI clips today. Most of my friends would rather screw in their robust and expensive graphics cards. One of the first things that grabbed my eye was the aluminum mounting latches for the PCI slots. “Somebody finally did it right” ..and “Yes, the K60 supports 3 or more graphics cards at a time, including CrossfireX™ and 3-way SLI™”
Before we go further, “Who is Lancool?” They’re owned by Lian-Li Industrial Co. I’m sure these cases are designed and manufactured by Lian-Li. The combination of aluminum, steel and plastic makes these cases cost far less than Lian-Li’s all-aluminum offerings. This is the right economic climate for Lian-Li to promote Lancool. You get the same engineering Lian-Li dedicates to their premium cases. I think the steel chassis will appeal to a broad range of enthusiasts including those into silent computing.
Nate Supple from CustomPCMax and I will be recording a video review of the PC- K60 for my YouTube. This article focuses on my first impressions of the case. I’m going to pass over the minor things like switches and fans and get to the meat of the product.

The front plastic bezel is easily removed by pulling up from the bottom to access the front 140mm fan filter.

The PC-K60 has a steel chassis. The internal layout has the motherboard on top of the power supply unit, which allows for easier access to the motherboard as well as more room above, thus larger CPU coolers can be used.
The entire hard drive cage can be rotated 90 degrees for improved airflow.

The PC-K60 may have the very first tool less top panel. The top panel is detachable without the need of any tools.

The top panel looks like it could double as the front bezel.

The 2, 140mm top exhaust fans are held into the chassis elongated holes with rubber mounting grommets.

The fans are strategically positioned over the motherboard area so they remove heat from your system efficiently.

The PC-K60 motherboard tray has plenty of routing holes for your cable management.

Each of the 4, removable 3.5″ HD trays are tool less. The entire HD cage can be rotated 90 degrees for better airflow.

The hard drive is fastened into the tray with rigid plastic clips. Each of the trays has rubber mounting grommets to help dampen vibration.

Each of the PC-K60′s 5.25 bays incorporate a mounting bar equipped with rubber padding. After secure the mounting bar, the rubber pad pushes and holds the 5.25” device in position to secure and absorb vibration from the device.

Lancool has included this convenient router for cable management.

The PC-K60 cradles your power supply on vibration dampening material. The floor is ventilated with louvers and cooled with cool air directly from the outside of the case. It supports power supplies up to 11″ long!

There is an air filter attached to the bottom of the chassis beneath the power supply to prevent dust from entering the case. The filter is washable.

I really liked the linear action of the aluminum latches for the PCI slots. There is rubber padding on the aluminum arm to assist in gripping the card bracket and securing it. This is the best tool less PCI slot design we’ve seen to date.

I’m very impressed with this case. It’s quality and user friendly features are outstanding. I haven’t found anything to complain about it yet. I will share the complete video review here next week!
